Reuben R. Ibanez, 79, of Reno, Nev., and formerly of Paauhau, died June 30 at a hospital in Reno, Nev.. Born in Paauhau, he was a former newspaperman and military veteran. Private services to be held in Reno, Nev. Survived by brothers, Miguel Ebanez, and Magdolino (Terry) Ibanes, both of Honolulu; sisters, Celerine Lumanlan of Kona, Aurelia Ibanes of Tucson, Ariz., Margaret (Kenwell) Burns of Las Vegas, Nev., Mary (Ken) Ibanes of Newark, Calif., Julia (Domi) Rances of Pepeekeo, Amada Pacheco of Hilo, Jena (Joe) Pacyao of Puna, Patricia (Alfred) Gonsalves of Whittier, Calif., and Laly Ibanes of Diamond Bar, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Adelina Ebanez of Hilo, and Tina Ebanez of Hilo; son, Craig (Janie) Ibanez, of Susanville, Calif.; wife, Ruth of Reno, Nev.; six grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

Lawrence “Mac” Hussey of Elk Grove, Calif., died Nov. 8, 2011, at his home. Born in Hilo, he was an anesthesiologist and certified asbestos consultant/industrial hygienist as a partner in Action Environmental Management Services in Sacramento, Calif. Celebration of life to be held Friday, July 13, at Wailoa State Park, Pavilion #3, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. A short blessing ceremony will be held at 11 a.m.; Refreshments to follow. Survived by wife, Janice; daughters, Michele (David) Carlson, Debbie (Eric) Knapp, and Sarah Hussey; sons, Lt. Col. MSMC Lawrence “Sonny” (Cathy) Hussey, and Michael Hussey; brothers, James Jr. (Kim) Hussey, Leonard (Loretta) Hussey, Adrian (Priscilla) Hussey; sister, Frances (Ed) Rocha; and six grandchildren.
